Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer start the season in a way that is made to measure. The driver trio wins the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season opener at Silverstone and subsequently the 6-hour race at Spa as well. The Swiss, the German and the Frenchman continue to lead the standings up to round six at Fuji, but are then overtaken by a Porsche driver trio. The drivers from Audi Sport Team Joest keep battling for the title until the finale in Bahrain. With a five-point deficit, they have to admit defeat in the desert race by a very narrow margin. Their statistics, however, speak for them: Fässler, Lotterer and Tréluyer, as World Champions of the 2012 season and runners-up in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 World Championships, plus ten race victories, are the most successful WEC driver combination.
