Audi Sport Team Joest took part in the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the completely newly developed Audi R18. Lucas di Grassi, Loïc Duval and Oliver Jarvis took their first win in just the second round of the season at Spa. The trio also proved to be the strongest combination from the team in the subsequent season events. After third place in Le Mans, di Grassi/Duval/Jarvis took second place three times in a row, before securing second on the drivers’ leaderboard with a win at the season finale in Bahrain. At the end of the year, Audi announced its withdrawal from the WEC, thus ending an 18-year cooperation with Joest Racing, which, among other things, has been crowned with eleven Le Mans victories and four WEC titles.
